Current information

The Swedish Accident Investigation Authority (AIA) is one of the authorities investigating the fire at Oceana. Their investigation aims to clarify what happened, why it happened, and how a similar incident can be avoided in the future. They do not address questions of responsibility; their sole purpose is to improve safety.

The investigation is now complete, and the AIA have presented their final report. They conclude, among other things, that the fire likely started in connection with electrical sleeve welding of a diversion pipe on the outside of one of Oceana's water slides. The commission provides safety recommendations to four parties, including Liseberg, which is recommended as the builder to continue developing systematic work environment efforts to strengthen the safety culture.

Reconstruction

The important decision has now been made to rebuild Oceana after the tragic accident that occurred earlier this year. At an extraordinary board meeting on the 17th of July, the decision was made that allows us to look forward to experiencing a fantastic water world at Liseberg. The road ahead is not straight and will be lined with many decisions. But our gaze is fixed on the horizon. Liseberg is the pulsating heart of Gothenburg, and together we take on the future. It always turns out best that way.
